Mylapore festival celebrates the heritage and traditions of the locality of Mylapore in Chennai. Mylapore predates Madras (now Chennai) and is considered the soul of the city. Every year in the early part of January, citizens come together to showcase their heritage and culture via their art, crafts or food. There are events like Heritage walks, music concerts, folk dances, rangoli etc. People come to enjoy the local food and buy from various stalls put up for the festival.
